The CIAS believes cyber security is a matter of learning.

  • The physical and cyber worlds are not as far apart as you may think.
It is nearly impossible to separate the tangible (utilities, schools, first responders, etc.) from the intangible (SCADA, networks, 911 emergency dialing, etc.).
  •
  • Your community is not an island.
In an actual emergency, you may need to rely on services and/or support from neighboring communities, states, or the Federal Government.
  •
  • Continuity of Operations and Disaster Recovery are not always the same.
The ability to keep critical services online during and after a cyber emergency is vitally important.
  •
  • The easiest way to compromise your information is to keep employees in the dark.
Security awareness is best when senior leadership is involved through regular training, exercises, and policy review.
